The Other Side of Longing

Geraldine and Lisa struck up a friendship at the Cape Cod Writers' Conference in 2008. The following year, Lisa was awarded a Surdna Arts Teaching Fellowship to travel to Ireland and work with Geraldine. In a little cottage in Connemara, they wrote and forged a link between their lives.In October of 2009, Geraldine travelled to Connecticut to teach workshops, read, and experience Lisa's landscape. They explored themes of culture, folklore, flora and fauna through a series of poems of call and response, weaving in and out of their own internal and external landscape. The result is a co-authored book, The Other Side of Longing (Arlen House/Syracuse University Press, 2011).
