An historically precise yet readable book

This book is truly excellent. It is now out of print, but I would strongly recommend looking for it in your library (that's where I found my copy). The book is very detailed in its accounts of English history from the end of the Roman occupation through the coming of the Normans, yet it always remains very readable and enjoyable. Read it!! It'll make you smarter!!
