Concise and Informative Overview

If you are looking for a concise overview of New Testament Christology (that is the NT teaching on the person of Christ) this book by I. Howard Marshall is a good place to start. In a limited number of pages Marshall provides a background study, a discussion of previous works (such as V. Taylor and O. Cullmann), a discussion of Jesus self-conception, and an overview of the various "titles" (Lord, Christ, Son of Man, and Son of God). The approach is generally conservative, but Marshall interacts with other views. Typically he tells you the various options that are common today, including the liberal ones. For example, Geza Vermes is mentioned in the notes repeatedly. The book came out in 1976 and was updated in 1990. Hopefully Dr. Marshall (who just completed a massive NT theology) will update this book again.

A good overview

Limited, but nevertheless a fine examination to the question of any Christological titles attached to Jesus of Nazareth during his lifetime. This book is full of fine information and analysis to this very question. A must read for anyone who wishes to study this subject.
