Baseball Fans' Dream Job

Fans wear player's shirts to games at the stadium and in front of the TV but Dan Reilly did it one better, he wore the uniform and cavorted on the field with players and fans alike. Dan went to work in the ticket office when the Mets started at Shea Stadium and ran the organization's Speakers Program in the off season. When the publicity department asked him to pump life into the cartoon character "Mr Met", Dan did so with such success that every sports team in the country has imitated him. Reilly is a gifted story teller with first hand tales covering the entire Mets spectrum from the owners to the broadcasters, to sponsors, to Hall of Famers. Dan's trip with the Mets runs from their loozenest season in baseball through to their 1969 World Series Championship. A wonderful journey in baseball history for the participants and a wonderful story for those who wish they had been. As Casey used to say "...you could look it up".
