Ann and Steve Waldon recently moved to the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Ann is finding her niche in the community by assisting the sheriff, often using her paranormal abilities. Ann's friend Ginny Stepp, an elderly mountain woman, expects to receive a large inheritance from her deceased son Ronald. However, his will directs that if he has any children his estate should go to them. When a search for his heirs appears in the newspaper, twin girls and a young man claim they have reason to believe they are his children. Three murders occur, and all victims have flower prints on their hands. The sheriff asks Ann to identify the flowers. The murders and questions surrounding Ronald's estate become entangled suggesting they may be related. Steve and the sheriff warn Ann that her involvement may put her in danger, but she cannot resist the temptation to follow her intuition leading to terrifying results.
