May she live to be 100 in order to write again and agian

Most people should not write a book before they are 40. A few should not wait until they are in their 80s. Viola Rawls Erickson is one of those latter persons. In her first book, completed in her 80s, she reveals a rare gift for writing from which we should have benefited long ago. From the opening pages when she creates an analogy between giving birth and making love, she has our attention. Characters are then developed with a masterful touch and intrigue develops with the surprise of the unexpected. Only the most sensitive could have felt so deeply into the Lanning family and made each of us feel as if we were members. Because she wrote so much so late, The Ones We Love might well have been a series of novels in sequence. May she live to be 100 in order to write again and again.David L. McKenna
