Good Bible overview for children

I bought this for my 6 year-old daughter after seeing the HoneyWord Bible. I read it with/to her. I really like the memorable book characters introduced as they give kids a way to remember the key ideas of each book in the Bible. The pictures for the devotionals are also great to place the verse in the appropriate book/chapter. The devotionals are a great length (about 10-15 min if we do them together) and the activities for each one are very do-able. They don't take fancy materials and are great opportunities to talk more about the devotional topic. Thanks for the creativity that is so applicable. And there is a prayer for each day. Again, I find it very helpful for my daughter in thinking how she can respond to the topic. The one thing that I am a little disappointed in is that the devotionals (other than the book overviews) sometimes are little more than a verse that can happen to make a good picture. (e.g. one that we just read was from Leviticus--about respecting elders.) It was fine, but I would have preferred to have verses/devotionals from ideas that are more central to the Biblical message as a whole. The devotionals are one verse with a thought to make them stick. However, the majority of devotionals are very good and meaty. Over all I am pleased and there is nothing that is 'wrong.' I am trusting that my daughter will learn to love the Bible and learn about the various books.
