Each selection, one a day for 365 days, combines the full text of one of the great hymns of the Christian faith, together with brief comments about the author and a narrative describing the occasion for the hymn's writing, or the hymn's impact on a person or society. An appropriate Scripture passage rounds out the day's entry. This is an excellent supplement to one's daily Scripture devotions.

I was pleased with this book, I got it for a gift, but I looked through it before I wrapped it up. Very interesting facts about the hymns and who wrote them. Easy to read in a daily devotional.
