The holes in the data

The Ole Degree is a great reading for those concerned about their business and trying to find the holes in the data, the opportunities that others haven't found yet and will take you to wonderful and favorable outcome. It gives a really good view on how the market is changing, how the spotlight is moving all around, and shows that the way you'll success with markets is having an open cultural view. Look out of the frame and find the missing data.
Keep the change

There's a big lesson in this skinny book: Thrive in business -- and avoid getting trampled -- only by leaving behind stale, incomplete data and petrified attitudes. You know your audiences are changing more and faster than ever, but at least three of your colleagues don't. You'll all benefit from reading and discussing the protagonist's metaphor-packed journey (while you get to watch them disavow any identification with his wrong-headed beginnings).
This book is all BULL

Its a one ton beast of wisdom gathered from various teachers throughout history and the world constructed to make readers into better leaders for tomorrow's interconnected multicultural marketplace- ten degrees at a time. Parable is an appropriate word to describe this fictional business book because of its profundity and secular undertone of redemption- a necessity for growth in any business or otherwise. The lessons challenge us to take a serious look at the direction we are each heading in and the latent biases that control and prevent us from seeing the opportunities that surround us. I enjoyed the audiobook version for its dynamic experience better than print. My only beef with this bull is the Sound Trek, the accompanying list of songs for the subject matter of each chapter. I have the iTunes Ole Degree iMix and though it tries to reflect the idea of diversity with its various genres and artists such as Eminem, Pink Floyd, Simon and Garfunkel, and Jimi Hendrix it falls short. Except for one very cool Latin song (El Matador), an old time blues track (by Leadbelly) and only one song fronted by a woman, the iMix is biased towards seventies/ eighties American pop bands fronted by men. The introductory Warning to the Reader says that "meaning is a lingua franca"-a universal language- so I would advise the authors to go beyond American English music for the Sound Trek of their next book.
The Ole Degree: A Call to he Who Knows Not
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 20 years ago
"Men are four: He who knows not and knows not he knows not, he is a fool - shun him; He who knows not and knows he knows not, he is simple - teach him; He who knows and knows not he knows, he is asleep - wake him; He who knows and knows he knows, he is wise - follow him!" This has always been one of my favorite quotes. The Olé Degree has emerged as one of my favorite books as it brings to life this quote with characters that illustrate each of "the four men". In a fast-paced allegory that entertains and educates we recognize the danger of not being open to the world around us and the opportunities it presents. Importantly, it goes beyond the warning to help us understand how to be more aware. Some good books aid our understanding of the world; others aid our understanding of ourselves. The Olé Degree distinguishes itself by doing both. For marketing executives anxious to learn or those who need to teach or awaken clients and colleagues, check out The Olé Degree.
