Tod, a feckless young man, inherits a rambling old family home on the Maine Coast. In order to make a living he decides to turn it into an old age home. In spite of his high hopes, the business is not as profitable as he desires. His incompetence in dealing with the clients leads to an unfortunate incident, which results in death. The consequences of this death surprise even Tod, and lead to a downward spiral to murder. One death leads to another, and, as the bodies pile up, so do the profits. Unfortunately, neither Tod nor his girlfriend Lucy, are able to control the course of events as they unfold. The result is a steady progression toward disaster. This, the second of Bronson Platner's novels of the absurdity of human behavior, is set in Downeast Maine. On his home turf, the author weaves a delightful tale of mischance, mayhem, and murder.
