This selection of short stories centres primarily on the reactions of mostly ordinary people to their experiences when interacting with other human beings. The relationship between individuals can cover a wide range of feelings and behaviour and sometimes what evolves when people meet and interact is sad; but, on the other hand, human beings can and do nourish and sustain one another. We cannot really completely control our lives and we do what we do simply because the way we are made doesn't permit of anything other. We are always reacting in some fashion. Seldom do we allow the play of our behaviour to go unmolested by our wishes and demands. Life, as has already been recognised, is a stage and we are the players. These stories are about some of Life's players as imagined by the author.
