The Truest and Funniest Book on Lawyers ever written!
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 17 years ago
I bought this 1983 book before attending law school that same year. I laughed to tears over many of the entries. Over the years I have harkened back to the keen insights imparted by this masterpiece. As I have grown older, wiser and involved myself in more dimensions of the law, the more paradoxical aspects of this book stand out as lessons which only life's experiences will truly confirm. As absurd as the lessons may seem at first, time teaches the spot-on analysis buried in this gem. Buy it, read it, understand it! You will re-read it to great advantage. For example, in the Legal Glossary section, page 239, "Pro Bono Publico" is defined as Latin - "For the public good. Refers to legal services performed without charge, usually for ingrates." The section on legal writing is simply a stunning achievement in humor rising to a crescendo through a series of hysterical exchanges between associate and partner as the partner cautions against direct language in favor of weasel words meant to protect the drafter if not the client. I cannot recommend this book highly enough for its combination of insight and humor. It is one of my all-time favorites.
Funniest collection of lawyer humor ever written

I originally received this book as a gift 20 years ago and I am buying a replacement for my very tattered copy. With chapters covering everything from taking the LSAT to making partner in the law firm, this handbook is very helpful and humorous for any lawyer or wannabe lawyer. Or, if you just love to bash lawyers, this is a pretty good book as well. An example of one chapter's title: "Lawyers & Humor: There are no funny lawyers, just funny people who made a tragic career decision"
