A Magical Christmas Classic In this glorious edition of E. T. A. Hoffmann's beloved Christmas story, Clara and her Nutcracker spring to life in a sparkling three-dimensional creation. Watch the Christmas tree soar to new heights, travel with Clara to the Kingdom of Toyland on the glittering swan boat, and see the fairies twirl and dance. This stunning pop-up book is the perfect way to relive the favorite holiday ballet and share the classic story.
My 3-year-old daughter loves this book, walking around the house with it and asking to read it every night at bedtime for a couple of months now. We watched "Nutcracker on Ice" and, having read this book, she was able to make connections and understand it a little. I love this book because the pop-up details go far beyond any other pop-up I've ever seen. It has details on the back and even inside some of the pop-ups. And it is sturdy enough that it has held together quite well under my daughter's loving "attention". In addition, the story itself is told in a short, understandable way. I would recommend this book for anyone who would like a delightful and simple introduction to the Nutcracker.
Beautiful!

I bought this book for my 4-year-old after seeing the ballet in person. She just loves the book and wanted to share it with all of her friends. The book is positively beautiful and the text is just enough for a pre-schooler's attention span. I've never seen a pop-up book quite like this one. I highly recommend it!

Wonderful colors, a nicely told story and the clever and beautiful use of varied materials in the creation of this book make it a real winner. Patricia Fry will now join Sabuda and Reinhardt as a favorite pop-up book artist. She manages to simply convey the story of the Nutcracker, while giving each page a WOW! with the intricacy of the paper engineering. The pages are full of characters that would be familiar to anyone who has seen the ballet - even exotic dancers, a full and beautiful Christmas tree, and a castle with spun sugar turrets. There are several fully dimensional figures, making it possible to enjoy the pages from every angle. In fact, one might miss something if it isn't turned every which way while enjoying each page! I especially appreciated that there are no "glitches" in getting the pop-ups to open and then collapse as the pages are turned. Children would love this book with adult supervision, as the constructions seem to be exceptionally sturdy for a book of this type. It is a truly lovely book, and one to treasure!
