The nursing consultation in the oncological setting in a primary care hospital is perceived as a special challenge by the staff of the higher service for health care and nursing. Above all, it involves being able to engage in conversations with patients and their relatives, which are characterised by complex questions. Nurses in the oncology setting are therefore required to engage in conversation and communication so that a deeper understanding of counselling can subsequently emerge. The aim of this research is to experience, identify and understand basic issues that come up in the context of a nursing consultation in the oncology setting, as well as a focus on difficulties, obstacles and the unexpected in the context of a consultation. The research methodology of grounded theory is chosen for the present work.
