This book of poetry and reflections is a bundle of tears as I let go of memories and truths. It is a chronicle of my struggle to accept the inevitable change that comes with aging and disease. It is a testimony of my love for life and words, even as they slip away from me. But I also embrace that I remain myself, even as I transform in front of everyone's eyes I still have a soul and a voice that no one can take away from me. I still have a spark, a joy, that lights up my days.
My poetry may not be worthy of praise or fame; it is a humble effort at most. It may not follow the rules or conventions of the art; it may not rhyme, flow, or impress. But seeing the pen glide on the paper, leaving blue trails on my journal, reminds me of the beauty in the journey of loss. And in that beauty, I have found a calmness, and a touch of wisdom, that accompanies it. It has become a refuge for me.
