The Nightmare Affair is the first in a gripping new urban fantasy trilogy by Mindee Arnett. Sixteen-year-old Dusty Everhart breaks into houses late at night, but not because she's a criminal. No, she's a Nightmare. Literally. Being the only Nightmare at Arkwell Academy, a boarding school for magickind, and living in the shadow of her mother's infamy, is hard enough. But when Dusty sneaks into Eli Booker's house, things get a whole lot more complicated. He's hot, which means sitting on his chest and invading his dreams couldn't get much more embarrassing. But it does. Eli is dreaming of a murder. Then Eli's dream comes true. Now Dusty has to follow the clues--both within Eli's dreams and out of them--to stop the killer before more people turn up dead. And before the killer learns what she's up to and marks her as the next target.
I loved this book! It's the first in a series which does not disappoint! I thought the characters were well developed and relatable, and I loved the drama and the the way they interacted with one another. The storyline is great and keeps you hooked for all three books. I was intrigued by how the plot developed over the course of the story, and while it is a romance it's also an adventure, a mystery, and it has some real truth incorporated. This story has themes of loyalty, selflessness, determination, redemption, and genuine love (love that doesn't fade or change just because it gets hard; love that's committed and dedicated). It's so beautiful how it all comes together and just comes to life as you read it. Please give this series a try! :)

I LOVE the idea but was horribly disappointed at the writing style, it's kind of tired, reuses phrases from 90s style series writing. If you're interested in reading this, I wouldn't spend money on it. Maybe get it from a library.
