Based on studies, but, saw no serious references to them

During research for my own health, I happened to read /hear about a significant study called "the nibbler's diet" by many. The gist of what I heard was that participants were divided into two groups that ate their usual foods in the usual quantities, but one group ate it in the usual split of three meals per day and the other group ate it split into 17 meals per day. After the results were determined, they switched the groups each to the other way of eating. The end result was that the group eating the 17 meals per day always lost more weight than the other group. There are supposed to be other similar studies. Now, the Hilton Head Fast Metabolism Diet, which is considered by many to be an excellent method of both losing and keeping off excess fat, states that eating four meals a day instead of three adds a little boost to your metabolism, due to your body needing to get ready to digest food more often. There seems to be some truth to that and it seems to be part of the reason a diet where you take your usual amounts of foods and divide them into more meals is a good idea. The Nibbler's Diet book seems to be a solid plan of how one can do that. It is fairly low in fat, recommends strategies to lower salt intake that make sense, and seems infinitely doable, if that's how you want to eat. Since it involves skim milk and a few other things I don't care to eat, it's definitely not for me. It does have some interesting information on how to assess your body, which is pretty cool. What it does not have, as far as I could tell in all the times I attempted to read through it and then ended up scanning it, is any information on the studies except a brief reference to being based or partially based on the information from the studies. So, this, disappointingly, is not a book that is going to go into further information about the one study I know about or what other studies there are, what the differences in the studies were, or, etc. SInce it said it was based on studies and there were reviews mentioning technical and scientific information, etc. I was really hoping for way more information than I got. This book doesn't have that information, so it was a total waste of money for me. I can see why it would be valuable to someone who just wants an easy to follow plan for both weight loss and lifestyle management, though. There are several good plans out there from McDougall, Ornish, Pritikin, basic Ayurvedic lifestyle lessons on sites like Joyful Belly, the aforementioned Hilton Head Fast Metabolism Diet, a very old book called Eat and Grow Slender, the Fit for LIfe books, and, probably what Lauren Lockman says about just eating fruits (including squashes ) and a little leafy greens. There are many ways to go about it, and it doesn't have to be hard or too weird, if you don't want it to be. This is another book that seems to be worth reading for that reason. Just don't read it in hopes of learning about the real studies, because, you won't get what you paid for, in that case.
