Good for starters

I have used this with many of my adult Japanese students who are in the U.S. for a time and want to have instruction in conversation and practical English. It is good for Beginner to Intermediate levels and provokes many avenues for conversation. Pronunciation and discussion of various subjects follow. It is helpful to have the Beginning and/or Intermediate Workbook to go along for practice.

Great Tool for English Teachers

I chose this book to augment the American English classes I conduct for Japanese people wishing to gain a reasonable comfort level in spoken English. The book's word choices are up-to-date and clearly American English. Having accurate illustrations to accompany vocabulary helps my students learn faster and helps me overcome confusing differences in both languages.

I am using this book to teach english to a japanese national. It's perfect to use. It's a great study guide as the visuals make for good review.

The New Oxford Picture Dictionary English/Japanese

This dictionary has many everyday drawings (of the US) to use with both adults and children. The Japanese translations of vocabulary words are much appreciated by students. Although the pictures are somewhat outdated, it's the best Japanese/English picture dictionary I've found. Best to be used for Japanese students in the US.
