Arochukwu community is the third largest town in Abia State, Nigeria. It is one of the few kingdoms in Africa that still practices monastically system of government. The uniqueness of this kingdom in Africa is due to the role it played during the slave trade era and thus the impact it made in Nigeria's history.The kingdom formed formidable groups against the British colonial era in Nigeria and also participated massively during the slave era peak in Africa. The two shrines were led by high priests who administered to some group of cultists who took over the Eastern and Southern parts of the River Niger. The Ibinu and the Long Juju Slave Route Shrines have become important tourist destination because of what they represent in the history of Nigeria.
