The Mystery of Montague Island!
Just off the coast of Georgia lies a beautiful resort property called Montague Island. It has been home to the Montague family for over sixty years and has been host to a summer full of fun for the public for about fifty of those years.
Grandfather Montague bought the tiny island when prices were cheap to buy land, and yet, no one seemed to want to live on an island surrounded by water. That was until Jasper Montague, Jades father brought his new wife there to live, until both his parents had passed away.
Jennifer and Jasper Montague built onto the main house and lived there with their two children Jade and Jules. During the fifties when everyone was talking about atom bombs and the like. Jasper didn't totally believe all the hype about the bomb and the world ending so he decided to build a sort of shelter in the house, just as a whim. He never ever thought he would need to use it and kept it a secret for many years.
When Jade Montague finished her college and got her degrees, she moved back home to start her design business and became the caretaker of the resort and now lives there full time. The resort is only open during the summer months because it usually got very cold during winters there and no one was interested in being there then Jade didn't mind and really enjoyed the change of seasons and the quiet, peaceful feeling she got from the island during the winters Jade loved seeing the glorious white, untouched snow, cover the land where a few months earlier people had been playing on the swings and in the water.
Jades comfortable cabinlike house, was built in a secluded area of the island on the ocean side, which gave her access to its own private beach, a dock where she could keep her sailboat and a ramp if she wanted to take out her jet ski. It was her very own cabin that she designed, built and decorated herself.
Jades Mom and Dad had moved back to the mainland with Jules when he was a teenager so he could go to school with other boys and develop relationships. Jennifer was also hoping he would find a nice girl, calm down and settle down.
So far none of those things had happened because of Jules' horrid personality. He was mean and nasty to his family, and even other people he met. He pulled some pretty nasty pranks on Jade too, which was one of the reasons why she went away to college. She had actually hoped he would be different when she returned, but he wasn't, and that is the main reason she now lived alone on the island.
Jade really did enjoy living on the island, because of the peace and quiet it provided and also because she had always felt very safe there. Unfortunately, she was always getting flak from her friends, that it was way too secluded, and too far away. Jade didn't care, because after way too many heartbreaks in love and way too many betrayals from friends, it just seemed to her the very perfect place to live.
The peacefulness of the island captivated her spirit, and she loved seeing the seasons change in a way that was always unexpected. On the mainland where her friends lived was like a different world altogether, plus it was loud and polluted. The people there were not always nice and working in the city was like working in a fishbowl. Taking care of her beautiful island was like living close to God and that made her very happy.
It was almost Memorial weekend the year her peace exploded She began working from dawn till dusk to make sure everything was ready for that big weekend and knew the crowds of visitors would soon commence. Her family was also coming for her birthday, and the island began filling up and soon her family arrived with tons of food and presents till the house looked like a department store.
The festivities began with games and parties and then the night of the big fireworks display, the life of Jade Montague was turned upside down.
