The year is 1937; following the death of his aunt, Oswald Fernsby has inherited her charming, isolated cottage. Their investigation leads them to Ightham Mote, a medieval moated manor house, and the work of the evil Witch Finder General, Matthew Hopkins, in the year 1645. They find themselves entering a world of ancient magic, folklore, superstition, and witches.
