The Mysteries: From the Baptism at the Jordan to the Institution of the Eucharist

Redemption of creation, or what I refer to as the ultimate fulfilment of creation that would only come about at the end of its voyage, is only possible through the person of the eternal Logos of God. St. Paul speaks of this as the gathering "up all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth," Eph. 1:10] at the fullness of time. Before anything else, and ultimately so, redemption is the gathering up of all things in the person of Jesus Christ, the eternal Logos of God. He existed long before the beginning of creation, and in him and through him, everything that is in existence comes into being, and in him, all things continue to hold together in existence. Thus, because of that, it is possible to say that his presence is also redemptive. It was his presence that provided efficacy to all the sacrifices of old that were meant as preparatory in view of the ultimate execution and fulfilment of the salvation plan in the person of the eternal Logos at the fullness of time. Accordingly, since it is his presence that animates and keeps everything in existence, redemption happens throughout every stage of the voyage of creation. However, it comes to its ultimate culmination in the manifestation of the eternal Logos in the fullness of time. In this regard, the eternal Logos assuming the form of a human in the fullness of time indicates or marks the first stage of God gathering all things in Christ Jesus. In his humanity, the eternal Logos becomes concretely one with all of the created things and, by so doing, brings the entire universe of the created things together into one with himself. Given this, the eternal Logos heals the wound and brokenness that the sin of the man and woman in the Garden of Eden caused to the entire universe of created things.
