The Mysterian is the 8th book published by the author Birdland Slim. The books looks at a several year period in the ife of the poet. The book records the passing of family members and rockstars as well, like Dee Dee Ramone and his band mate Johnny Ramone. The poets life was fairly calm in this period and covers some of the happy times of his life with his family and harder times of break up and loss. The book also chronicles some of the hockey games the poet attended of his favourite team the Regina Pats. The poet also includes a meeting with a Regina Pat alumni and NHL star Clark Gillies. The book is a poetic testament to the ups and downs of life and the challenge to overcome the more turbulent times and enjoy the good moments of life. The "Big Dig' as it was called of the draining of Wascana creek is discussed in a small series of poems as this event was of much interest to citizens of Regina. The book overall is one of experiencing death and the accompanying sadness and the joys of life with family.
