The Mutt Book is great

This is a really great book if you own a mixed breed and want to try and figure out its breed history. I liked is much I bought a second copy for our animal shelter. It's entertaining and educational. Great Book!!!

The Mutt Book

In my opinion this is a great book. I have ordered a lot of dog books and this one is the top one so far. It has lots of different traits in dogs. So you can decode your dog's heritage. Thanks birdladypoole

My Dog is a Golderman Shakita Retriever

I saw this book in my vet's office today, and thought it was the greatest! Full color pictures of all sorts of mutts and several "designer" dogs were displayed with accompanying explanations of each dog's possible ancestors. Using head types, ear positions, body and leg types, fur coloring, texture and length, as well as other indicators, the author pieced together an ancestry of the dog in a way that I could never have done on my own. And you know what? If I didn't get it 100% right , I really don't care! I had fun looking at all the goofy combinations, and loved the names that were assigned to each doggy mutt. From this book, I concluded that my dog has German Shepherd (ears), Labrador Retriever (coat type and color), and Akita (tail) in her background. There could be more surprises in there, like whippet, and (I've always suspected) like husky or even coyote (though that's not covered as far as I know). I like this book so much, I'm buying a copy for our local library. What a fun way to spend an afternoon trying to figure out where "that doggy in the window" came from.
