This book has been written for Oud students who are confident players and have successfully completed the material covered in the Mukhtar Method series up until the Oud Intermediate course book. The objective of this book is to further progress students' playing techniques as well as their understanding of the maqam system. Transpositions of Maqam Nahawand, Kurd and Bayat will be further analyzed with a higher level of risha and fingering technique. New secondary maqamaat and some of their transpositions will be introduced including Maqam Lami and Bayat Shur. Longer musical pieces will be covered, many of which contain maqam modulations. Some pieces will also be played in a transposed key. A higher level of technique is applied and pitch precision is emphasized.
