Welcome! I'd like to introduce you to a friend of mine, the Mountain Man, who you'll get to know in the pages that follow. I met him on a trip to Honduras during the summer before my 55th birthday. It was one of the most miraculous meetings of my life and this sagely, rugged gentleman turned out to be a wonderful friend and excellent conversationalist with unimaginable wisdom. For the time he spent with me and the things he shared with me, he asked one "small" favor: that I write the story of our encounter. I argued that I've no idea how to publish a book, that I'm no writer, that I flunked grammar and composition in grade school and that if it weren't for spell check I couldn't spell my name. Yet he insisted. He told me it would take some work and some effort but I could publish our story online. He was hopeful that his experiences and the things he had learned may benefit others. How could I say no? Consequently, I've written the story of our encounter as best as I could remember it. I've tried to make the story easy to read and entertaining while capturing the essence of his wisdom. I hope I've done him justice. Enjoy and be inspired!
