A comforting roadmap for the path of motherhood

Thousands of books have been devoted to the stages of child development, but virtually none explore the profound transformation process that shapes mothers. "The Mother Person" focuses on the mother as an individual unique from her child. The authors conducted extensive interviews with 49 mothers of children from birth to age 5. The book is peppered with insights and comments taken from the interviews, as well as with those of the authors as they follow the developmental journey a woman takes from the moment of her first child's conception to the birth of her second child. The authors define and discuss five developmental stages of motherhood, the most difficult of which is mastering fear. This almost taboo subject is rarely discussed among women, and it was a real relief to see the very fears I thought were unique to me expressed by 49 other mothers! "The Mother Person" is a comforting roadmap for the path of early motherhood, assuring us that we are not alone in our journey
