Describes how to make and operate many types of puppets--from sock and shadow puppets to marionettes--and how to create puppet theaters. This description may be from another edition of this product.
As the title suggests, a most excellent make and do book, especially for older children, or adults intested in basic puppet making. Though color photos and drawings, as well as brief descriptions this book shows how to make 9 different puppets, including a basic glove puppet, several rod puppets, shadow puppets, 3 different marionettes, and a bunraku puppet. The puppets are made mostly from simple inexpensive recycled household items, such as cardboard, toilet paper and wrapping paper tubes, straws, egg cartons, and plastic milk jugs. While the book shows how to construct a puppet stage, it does not go into much detail about puppet performance, however, it sparks the imagination and gets you started on making and playing with homemade puppets.
