I was very impressed with the book The Moon Children

As the adoptive mother of 7 children with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and the Executive Director for a non-profit agency that provides services for individuals with FASD, their families, and caregivers I read and review many articles and books on this topic as well as on adoption. I was very impressed with the way this book presents the topic of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder from the standpoint of a young person with these disabilities. It was presented with concern and care for all parties involved including the birth mother who had subsequently entered recovery. It was not a white washed, pollyannish viewpoint but also not the often stated negative stereotypical representation of children with this disability. It is a book that I would be absolutely comfortable having my older children read themselves to better understand themselves and one that I will read to my younger children or with those who have reading difficulties.
