The background of this poem is based on the Central Park jogger case where a young woman, Trisha Meili, was kidnapped, raped, and beaten while jogging in the park on April 19, 1989. The victim was thrown into a ravine in the northern half of Central Park and left for dead. What follows is a poetic narrative interpretation of the case.
