The book provides an excellent review of what has and has not been accomplished in the world-wide human rights movement since World War II. It is also disheartening to read about the progress made in this area at the time the book was published (2001) knowing that most of the advances have been decimated by Bush's empire building. I found the author's criticism of Carter and Clinton approriate and look forward to his next work on this topic.
