In his debut collection of seven short stories, Takudzwa Chiwara seeks to promote tolerance and shun appalling cultural practices that can cause strife and unresolved differences. In this book, the reader will peruse stories on: a Zimbabwean US based Navy soldier's attempt to reunite with his estranged lover and son as his mother's deathbed wish, how the plans of a stingy and extravagant businessman to exploit his farmworker backfires, a brawl ensues due to the negative perception of a well-off lawyer over his poor and alcoholic neighbour, how authoritarian parenting makes a child timid and a failure in life, the fate of the girl child when she has a baby out of wedlock, the pains of sibling rivalry, the fate of Zimbabweans in the diaspora and a story on a pie vendor whose bad business ethics gets challenged in a heated and engaging exchange of words. The author drew inspiration to pen this short fiction read from the experiences that he faced and read in the press during the Covid-19 lockdown in Harare, Zimbabwe. Below is an excerpt from the book: "Whenever, someone likened Itai to his father he would go berserk. In most cases it would be the last time that person would ever see him. He loathed those who did this hideous act. Ruvarashe had done it. She needed to be punished. What would he do to her? He shook his head in utter disbelief of what had become of him. He realised how irrational he had become. His mother once likened him to his dad after he left Ruvarashe pregnant with Junior. He stopped communicating with her. Diana, his very own sister, also fell victim. Guilty by association."
