Yellow in Blacks and Whites in MS

It is a book of well researched documentary on the Mississippi Chinese with Professor Loewen personal interviews and field collection in this racial relationship among the Yellow between Black and White America. It is a fascinating story unknown and ignored by the main stream society. Unlike the East or West Coasts, Chinese people still suffered the same bias and discriminations. The 1882 Chinese Exclusion Act pushed Chinese bachelors married Blacks or Whites and their children still keep their Chinese culture in the language and other tradition. It is interesting to note a Chinese mayor in Jonestown with a population of 889 in 1960 (P.96). This book supplements a forgotten chapter in American history in the Mid-West. Readers will not be disappointed on this comprehensive but compact book published long ago.
