When I encounter someone, I can accurately perceive their physical suffering within my own body in less than three minutes. As if looking into a mirror, the other person's pain is vividly reproduced in my own somatic system. In other words, the moment I witness someone's painful area, an identical sensation of pain manifests in the exact same spot on my body.
Modern neuroscience defines this phenomenon as "Mirror-Touch Synesthesia (MTS)."
