The orphanage on Minicoy Island on the Lakshadweep archipelago was home to many little girls. The cruel Madam Cankerly ran the orphanage with an iron fist. Pari, the oldest of the girls, was twelve, brave and independent. She was determined to find a better life for her friends and herself. One night, Pari made up her mind to leave the island to find help. Unnoticed, she went aboard a ship. She was frightened by a strange discovery on the ship. Was Pari in danger?
