I read “A Respectable Trade” 2007 not that long ago so when I started reading “the Miniaturist” 2015 I couldn’t believe the almost identical storyline. Not one thing unique about her writing . In fact the ambiguity of the miniaturist in the story was more annoying than intriguing - no closure & it brought no added value to the storyline .Don’t waste your time on this book - If you want to read a good story line about the exact same topic, read A RESPECTABLE TRADE by PHILIPPA GREGORY.
