Ashley is a woman at her wits end. Her husband Harry is never home, despite promising his promotion in another state would allow more time with her, not less. The day before Christmas Eve, she has rescheduled their flight, three times, to her home in Nebraska. He arrives home drunk, covered in smoke from a bar, and she decides she should have left already. After confronting him, stating so, and desiring time to think about her future, he makes the decision for her. With a quick divorce filing online, he requests his ring back, and sends her on her way. On her flight home, from California to Nebraska, dense fog rolls in and forces an emergency landing in Wyoming. She is waiting at a counter, trying to find a way home to see her family, when a name rings out from her past. "Ash" she hears, and the name makes her turn in anticipation, with a holiday dusting of nerves. He looks the same as he did six years ago, with his messy blond hair, chocolate brown eyes, and memory educing smile. When he walks over to greet her, she discovers Harry has canceled all her credit cards, but Nick offers a deal. If she will switch off driving with him, he will rent them a truck to get home to Nebraska. With the only flight due to land home after 3:00 PM Christmas Day, Ashley agrees, but knows she is no where near ready to let a new man into her life. However, Nick is no new man, but rather her first love before Harry. Dreading the miles home alone with him, she soon realizes all the mistakes she has made, and how easily they can be fixed, or made worse than she ever imagined.
