excellent

This is truly an excellent book for any one interested in biblical prosperity; the why and how are very well presented.

Balanced. Thoughtful. Powerful. Wise.

In "The Midas Touch", Rev. Kenneth Hagin sets the record straight on doctrinal errors such as, "naming your seed", "100-fold" returns on offerings, preachers' "special anointing" to bless and multiply offerings and several other misguided teachings. As Hagin describes, church doctrine is a road with ditches on both sides. Extremism on either side of the issue will end up off track and out of the way. For the Christian, there is a danger lurking in some prosperity teachings of losing our first love; of chasing after the things of this world instead of chasing after God. There is need for a certain degree of maturity in the believer to handle the prosperity doctrine. The properly balanced Christian loves the Creator more than the creation. "Love not the things of this world" we are cautioned in 1 John 2:15. Yet, our hearts lead us astray. Our affections for this world would charm us still. There is good news in the Midas Touch. God desires "above all things" that his children prosper and be in good health. There is provision, protection, and riches in glory of Christ Jesus in great abundance for us today, in this life. We are well able to access the power of God through faith. There is healing, prosperity, and blessings beyond measure for every believer. Hagin was no Scrooge. Nor was he a fool. With revelation, knowledge and wisdom he clearly saw the road ahead and warns us today "that narrow is the way which leads to life" and not to fall into the ditch, on either side, along the journey.

Would that Other Faith Teachers Heed This Message...

Hagin has written a much-needed corrective for those of us who believe in God wanting us to prosper. For years, "prosperity" has been a revolution to some and a revulsion to others. And though it is God's will for His children to be taken care of, too many contemporary teachers have taken the subject to unbiblical extremes. Hagin leaves no stone unturned as he scripturally lays a foundation and corrects a lot of the current teaching that has become extreme such as: * Giving to get * The 100 fold return * Giving to the poor * Sowing and Reaping * Firstfruit giving And more... The reality is that Hagin wrote this book to his sons in the faith trying to bring them back into balance in this area. Unfortunately, according to some reports that I have heard, Hagin's sons in the faith have largely rejected his timely message. It's kind of ironic that the very ministers who got their start with this man of faith have now rejected his corrective in the area of finances--determined to carry on with unscriptural practices and gimmicks. I am glad that I took the time to read this book. And though I have never "gone overboard" with prosperity, Hagin's book was a confirmation of some of the conclusions that I have come to in recent years. I just wish Hagin's spiritual sons would follow his lead and come back into balance. But when you start to touch the money, the fur begins to fly, I guess. Highly recommended.

A balanced view of prosperity

BALANCED is the best word to describe this book. There are so many extreme teachings on prosperity, from the grossly ignorant teachers who liken Mercedes and Rolls Royces to godliness to those who teach that Jesus was poor. The whole point is that money was not an issue to Jesus. He didn't live in abject poverty nor in the presidential suite. He had enough to do what God needed Him to do on earth, and that's the goal that we should be trying to reach. Hagin speaks against the grossly erroneous, cancerous teachings of a few charismatic leaders on "firstfruits". I know one church in particular which refused to put this book in their bookstore even though they have publicly proclaimed Hagin's teachings prior to this book. Don't let anyone talk you out of reading it. It's well needed in the charismatic world to balance the extreme teaching that people have heard enough of! Thank God for Hagin writing this book.
