My name is Michael Cross. I have no past, and no future worth claiming. Where I came from is unknown and irrelevant. The only truth that matters is the will of the Master, the unseen hand that guides me.
I wear my humanity like a borrowed skin; a fragile disguise stretched over something far older and far more powerful. I pass among them unnoticed, yet I am not one of them. I am other. Power thrums beneath the surface, restrained only by purpose.
That purpose is simple and absolute: to seek out the Master's enemies and destroy them. There is no hesitation. No remorse. My judgement must be flawless. Emotion is a weakness I cannot afford. Obedience is everything.
I do not walk this path alone.
Ralph Baer and Mary Magellan travel beside me, though they are not as I am. Ralph is a healer, a shield against the darkness I unleash. He serves the Master as I do, but where I bring the storm, he brings calm. His presence tempers the devastation in my wake.
Mary Magellan is something else entirely. Human, yes, but blessed with long years and deeper wisdom. Her guidance is subtle, like a steady wind cutting through shadow. When the darkness seeks to ensnare us or bar our way, it is her voice that leads us forward.
My instructions regarding her are clear and unbreakable: protect her. Listen to her. Obey her counsel.
This is my path. This is my purpose. And I will see it fulfilled.
