The Menders Paradox is dedicated to all who suffer from an invisible illness and especially to those with myalgic encephalomyelitis (M.E.). Living with severe M.E., the author was only able to spend 5 minutes a day transcribing his thoughts to his computer, over the course of three years, to complete the book. It took another year of having it read back to him line-by-line with his brothers to edit it, since his condition prevents him from reading and greatly limits his ability to talk. The result is both beautiful and inspirational; Skocik blended his personal experiences and real life adventures to weave a tale that thrills the reader as well as advocates for all who suffer from a condition similar to his. The main character, Lincoln Jade, is a college senior and aspiring investigative journalist coping with cystic fibrosis. She hopes to make her mark in the world interviewing Barry "Blue" Hawkins, a living urban legend, who is dealing with a debilitating disease of his own as he breaks his silence. Her classmates and best friends, Windy and Jamie, team up with Lincoln and her dad, Detective Rick Jade, who is chasing a demon from his past. They discover that their investigations point to the same conspiracy threatening the lives of millions and executed by a single-minded killer.
I wanted more of it but all good things do come to an end!!

I recently received LJ’s thriller and l will have it finished in the next few days. So far, The Mender’s Paradox has plenty of intrigue and suspense to take anyone to dive into this work and read it cover to cover. Tastefully done and looking forward to finishing it up, only to hope a sequel comes out.
Well, it’s the following day as I could not put the book down until I finished it. There was plenty of suspense and intrigue as I mentioned earlier but the flow of this novel was par excellence. There were so many twists and turns, keeping me alert to what was to come to the following page. It was so much fun reading this book and I was sorry that when I hit page 285, the story was finished. LJ really did a fine job of keeping me interested in this book, enough for me to finish reading it right after I made my first comment. Thank you for giving me about six hours of pleasurable reading. Looking forward to any and all future reads!
