Reporter Bob Wilton is in search of his next big story when he encounters Lyn Cassady, a shadowy figure who claims to be part of an experimental U.S. military unit. According to Cassady, the New Earth Army is changing the way wars are fought. A legion of "Warrior Monks" with unparalleled psychic powers can read the enemy's thoughts, pass through solid walls, and even kill a goat simply by staring at it. Now, the program's founder, Bill Django, has gone missing and Cassady's mission is to find him. Intrigued by his new acquaintance's far-fetched stories, Bob impulsively decides to tag along. When the pair tracks Django to a clandestine training camp run by renegade psychic Larry Hooper, the reporter is trapped in the middle of a grudge match between the forces of Django's New Earth Army and Hooper's personal militia of super soldiers. In order to survive this wild adventure, Bob will have to outwit an enemy he never thought possible.

Bob Wilton (Ewan McGregor), a recently divorced reporter, wants to do what all men do when a woman "has broken his heart": go to war. On his way to Iraq, he stumbles across an ex-Jedi warrior, Lyn Cassidy (George Clooney), who also happens to be going to Iraq for some nefarious purpose. As they travel together, the reporter, Bob, becomes fascinated with a story of military and human importance told to him by bigger-than-life Lyn. Will any of Lyn's tales turn out to be true, or are we just on a wild goat chase? "More of it is true than you would believe" This film does not fall into any standard genre. It may have a message or two, but you have to look for them. There are a few sight gags (one includes clouds). The stereotypical hippy is fun when you think back on the real thing. The war scenes are more realistic than in the film "Hurt Locker". Beware that the Blu-ray has all those nasty coming attractions that get old quickly. The DVD extras are worth a scan. You will have to look under the audio setup to find the commentary with Director Grant Heslov or Author Jon Ronson.
