Book Overview

The first ever Christmas story by one of America's most popular Evangelists features a grandmother seeking inspiration from the Bible as she prepares to create a quilt. Grandmother feels as if her life and loves have all passed, leaving her alone to reminisce about the joys of past Christmases. But as she opens her heart to the Virgin Mary, the truth of what really matters comes to light.

It was a delightful read!

I love the way Pastor T.D. Jakes made me feel as though the ladies in the story where like people you might know. It had a wonderful meaning, and the story line was very easy to follow. I love how stubborn one of the characters tends to be throughout the story, but then God continues to step into her thoughts, softens her edge, and she eventually surrenders to what it is that he needs her to do. This book is a great winter read.

The Memory Quilt

A very great christan book by a great author. This is a book about miracles and how they work in our lives. I would recommend anyone who love Christmas please read it.

This book will warm your heart!

The Memory Quilt is the best Christmas Story I've ever read! I purchased the audio book and the vividly illustrative story nestled my heart as it captured me away into the life of Ms. Lela Edwards. I laughed and I cried as I listened to the spirited older woman give out her gems of wisdom and her quips of attitude towards the Christmas Season. The book is laced with an encouraging message that really touched my soul. I believe The Memory Quilt will be a classic Christmas Story and I would recommend this book as a gift to share with family and friends. Thank you T.D. Jakes for once again bringing my heart pure joy.

Lessons Learned

`The Memory Quilt' is a contemporary Christmas story; but a deeper one than you might be expecting. Lela Edwards is someone that most of us know; proud, unbending at times but with a deep faith and love of family. She is searching this Christmas for understanding, whether she can admit it or not. Her husband of 50 years recently died as did her mother. Her granddaughter who she expected would spend Christmas with her is not coming and even worse is divorcing her husband. The quilt comes into the picture from the tradition of making one for marriages in the family; however Lela hadn't made one for her granddaughter and it is too late now. She plods through her Bible study class studying the scriptures dealing with Mary and soon Lela can relate to what these lessons should be teaching her. She thinks about her life and those of her friends and neighbors in her deteriorating Chicago neighborhood Christmas is hard when it isn't what we expect it to be; but the key turns out to be - to open our hearts, it's a wonderful lesson to read at any time of year but especially for a Christmas lesson. Lela finds herself giving consideration for others. There is room in any heart to learn the lessons of `The Memory Quilt'.

"Oh Come, All Ye Faithful"

Rating: 8/10 Plot: 7.5/10 Characters: 9/10 Ending: 9.5/10 Enjoyment: 8/10 Cover: 9/10 If you are looking for a lovely novel to warm your heart this holiday, I would suggest reading T.D. Jakes, The Memory Quilt. Everyone knows a woman like the lead character Lela Edwards, so the ability to relate to her struggles was easy. Jakes has a down home feel to his writing that reminds me of my favorite comfort food. The plot was slightly predictable but the rich character development made up for it. I plan on giving this book as a gift to my mom, aunts and grandmothers because I think they would enjoy it greatly. Keleigh Crigler Hadley author of Preacher's Kids: Secrets & Salvation Oh, and I eagerly await the movie. (I started casting it as soon as I was finished.)
