Fast moving and Fun

Mr. Lewis' knowledge of the baseball card collection industry really comes through in this quick paced book. It is extremely entertaining for sports fans, as well as, fans of lawyer based intrigue stories. His style of writing, Malenglish, is built for the generation that came of age in the 80's. Or, for that matter, anyone that enjoyed or still enjoys, music and movies from that wonderful era. I highly recommend this book and can't wait for his next one.

Funny and Entertaining

I bought the book to support my fellow Gator (the author), but ended up really enjoying it! I knew nothing about baseball or baseball cards before reading the book, so I was fascinated with all the detail that was provided in a fun way. But really, the book is a thriller about the hunt for "something" - so it could have been a baseball card or a pot of gold and the story would have been the same: suspenseful and funny. I recommend this book to anyone who likes to read first-person narratives and really see inside the main character and what makes him tick. I also recommend it to anyone who wants to take a break from serious literature and really laugh. Job well done, Gator!

This was a GREAT read!!

Great job of spinning a mystery/suspense novel in with a side-splitting humorous tale! This was a fun, easy read that made me laugh out loud at times. I appreciated the historical elements of the story, but the plot is perfectly understandable for someone who has never even seen a baseball card. The surprise ending ties it all together and explains everything in a pleasing resolution. This is one of those fun books that you will want to recommend to your friends between the ages of 30 and 60 who appreciate funny movies and old music. A+

A++ !!

I started reading it and couldn't put it down! The book goes back and forth between the past and the present, so it leaves you hanging at the end of every chapter, waiting for more. Clever use of song titles to help tell the story. I enjoyed all of the movie quotes and trying to guess which movie they came from, and I liked how the characters were developed. It reminded me of a Janet Evanovich book where the action is non-stop and yet very funny at times. I would recommend it to anyone old enough to remember and enjoy the 1980's.

Funniest Book I've Read in a While!

I've always wondered why the characters in books don't talk more like normal people do? Well, they DO in this book - which is written with a multitude of funny quotes and classic songs that all bring pleasant memories back to the reader and make him/her actually feel "involved" in the story. But behind all of the humor is a very good plot that does NOT follow the typical predictable track. I guessed wrong many times while trying to figure out the author's next move, which is a nice break from the ordinary. Anyone who laughs at "Saturday Night Live"-type humor will love the book. I did!
