How can you NOT like this book?

For fun summer read, check out the Manny. I loved Peterson's writing. She lured me into the story and made Jaime's character very real and practical. My best read of the summer so far!

Loved it

I would like to see the readers who complain about poor writing style try and write their own book. I loved this book--it is light-hearted, funny, and endearing. Its a modern day tale of a seemingly common phenomenon. The book does not try and come off as a classic or a novel of high sophistiction. It's chic lit, and if that's not what you want, then dont read it. The author does seem to be a bit pretentious, but give her a break.

The Manny is a fun and enjoyable read! I couldn't put it down for a whole weekend. Jamie is a young mother and parttime TV news producer in Manhattan. Coming from Minnesota, she is unprepared for the Manhattan upper class scene. Her husband was raised in this upper echelon, and definitely subscribes to it. He works long hours to achieve the status he desires, letting his family suffer for his abscence. His[...] son is especially vulnerable to his father's unavailability, so Jamie decides to hire a "Manny" to fill this male void. She hires a self employed computer software designer who says he could use the extra income. Jamie, the children and the household staff take to him, and he helps them take a different perspective on the direction of their lives. The story takes some unexpected turns which add to the plot.

Great Experience

The Book arrived when promised and was in perfect condition....I gave it to someone special as a gift and have heard nothing but great things about the book.

I Need More Manny!!

I thought this book was GREAT! I wasn't expecting it to be as well written and entertaining as it was...boy was I wrong! I couldn't put it down, and the tension between the two main characters was delicious! I also liked the descriptions of the hopelessly rich, something I would never get such an intimate look inside of. Holly Peterson is definately a new favorite author of mine, and I hope, hope, hope there is a sequel! Some of the other reviewers need to LIGHTEN UP and take this for what it is: a fiction story, entertainment, not meant to be classic literature! And entertain it does! If you have an open mind and just want a great escape, don't hesitate to try this book!
