Robert Dredge Castleton was born in 1924, just before the Great Depression, to a rancher's daughter and a railroad man in Salt Lake City, Utah. He lived through a fascinating historical period, was curious about everything, and his memories are crystal clear. His life has been full of adventure (not always intentional), but obstacles that might have slowed others down never held him back. Bob lived in 6 states and 5 countries: United States, Denmark, Solomon Islands, Guatemala, Chile. He and his wife Elaine raised 8 children and fostered at least 20 more. He earned his living as a ship radio officer, Christmas quartet tenor, church seminary teacher, police summons server, school psychologist, vacuum salesman, and the owner and operator of two small business franchises. His hobbies included archery, falconry, raising animals, playing the violin, river rafting, felling trees, and tinkering with engines. He built cars, houses, boats, and anything his children broke. This book is a testament to Bob's fearlessness and fascination with the unknown, and a great read about a life well lived!
