This anthology of short fiction, creative non-fiction and poetry showcases a selection of work by the University of Alberta Faculty Women's Club Creative Writing Group, a group of seven women living in Edmonton, Alberta, who love to write. The title story of the collection comes from a linocut of a man in a bathtub typing on an old-fashioned typewriter. The print, found by one of the group's members in Paris, inspired her to write a story based on the image in the linocut. When other members of the group read her story, they too were inspired to write a story about a bathtub, with or without man. What came out were six completely different bathtub stories, which then became the inspiration for producing an anthology. The bathtub stories provide a backdrop of humour and lightness to the collection, but the remaining stories cover a huge range of styles, plots and genres, encomapssing humour, tragedy, romance, science fiction, mystery, creative biography, fantasy, human interest, and more. Georaphically and historically, the settings range across Europe, Asia and America, from prehistory through recent history, to modern times. The skill and expertise with which each story is wrought demonstrate the the sheer diversity of the seven authors' talents and imaginations. There is something for everyone in this eclectic and enjoyable collection.
