The Second Half of the "Mal's Latter Days" Arc of "The MAL Series," telling of the rise and fall of the MAL Empire at the hands of Mal's future self. Book 20: The MAL Empire With Existence reset and Calida's reeducation completed, Mal resumes his quest to conquer the Universe. After causing discord across a few planets and facing his old demons, Mal leads his army across the worlds that Mark Peddlestone once visited, wronging the rights that the Hero left behind. When Mal encounters his worst fear in the form of a being dubbed "The Ultimate Villain," the Malevolent All-Powerful Liberator forces himself to part with Calida once more, sending his Muse to the past to safeguard his former self and prevent him from becoming the horror that is Future Mal. Book 21: Past, Present, and Future Mal Calida serves as a supernatural wish-granter to the young Michael Andrew Luna, protecting him not only from Future Mal, but also from his high school bullies. Mal seeks redemption, turning away from his path of evil with the help of The Muse. Meanwhile, Future Mal begins his takeover by assembling incarnations of the Seven Deadly Sins. Mal and Future Mal both disclose their exploits in personal journal entries. Book 22: The Wrath of Future Mal Mal and Calida live a blissful life in Mal's Paradise while Future Mal constructs a diabolical weapon dubbed the S.I.N. Ray, The Critic hellbent of wiping out all of Humanity. To convey Future Mal's plan and the nature of The Plot to Mal and Calida, I must intervene by placing twelve documents within Mal's Paradise for the couple to find. Future Mal seeks to combine the Body of The Antagonist with Soul of the Editor and the Mind of The Critic, recreating a being called The Antithesis, the literal antithesis of The Plot. I enter my own Paradise, where I'm greeted by Calida, but our joy is short-lived when The Antithesis reforms, and we must travel to the Dark Oblivion alongside the Malevolent All-Powerful Liberator to at last face END himself.
