The Magnus Factor tells the story of Bill Rose and his rise to number one in the Pacific Northwest Lawn Tennis Association rankings in the 1950's. Bill was instrumental in the growth of tennis in Oregon, served as head men's tennis coach at the University of Portland, the first head pro at the West Hills Racquet Club and later as the head pro at the Racquet Club in Portland and at the Smoke Tree Ranch in Palm Springs, California. A writer of three books devoted to the fundamentals of the game, the Magnus Factor includes many of Bill's "how to" tennis tips and colorful stories of Bill's journey through the growth of the game. It was a journey that would begin with a chance encounter; a Magnus force at work, quietly nudging others down different and unexpected paths in life.
