The Luck of the Naive

Young Jonas is forced to hide in the vicinity of his native village of Rosta. His naive love for the mayor's daughter, Eliza, is not understood by her father, leading to an accusation of theft that results in his mother's imprisonment. In desperation, Jonas joins a band of robbers. Their leader, the giant Mego, promises to help him if Jonas assists them in finding a mystical artifact.
Together, they participate in a bloody raid that attracts the attention of an army led by the thane Brunnegran. The gang still manages to escape thanks to Brunnegran's incompetence and the skill of the elven tracker Malruthiia. However, mysterious events within the village complicate the situation further. The tragic consequences of these events lead to the calling of a mysterious Wolf, who initiates a real hunt for the robbers.
Jonas's fate hangs in the balance. Will he survive the impending duel of powerful forces?

This is a translation of a Slovak novel that has been well received by readers. It tells a fantasy story set in the Me rska Empire, which is on the verge of a significant struggle for power. The narrative introduces the key players in the forthcoming events, as well as the ordinary people impacted by their actions.
