In Coyote Canyon, in Southern California, near the Arizona border, Lile Foster owns and operates a diner. He lives on the premises with his daughter, Karina, and his cook, Cecilia Hall. During an unrelenting monsoon, these three people and several others-a worldly old sports agent and his promising client, a personal assistant returning from a short holiday spent with a secret lover, a young hoodlum from New York wanted by the police, and a family of four making their way to San Diego to enjoy the fantastic beaches there-must do their best to survive the elements, and each other.
